<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">It is a
characteristic of this time, that the characteristics of modern Hellenism are
formed in a final way, the ethos of resistance - according to Nikos Svoronos
the main element - and the political texture of its identity. In this respect
it is interesting that Digenis Akritas, written in the twelfth century, is
"the national epic of modern Hellenism", according to Nicholas
Politis, has as its central hero of a ... "Digenis" (of two descents)
with an Arab Christian father and Greek mother. His identity is cultural and
spiritual and not racial, showing in a way that, the famous phrase of Isocrates
about the ancient Greeks (Hellenes) " Greeks (Hellenes) are the ones who
posses Greek paedia - education", applied in a greater degree for modern
Hellenism. Yet this very developed culture lacked the aggressive reflexes of
colonial West, which began its course to conquer the world and of the Turkish -
Mongol tribes, which at the same time spread with lightning speed from Delhi to
Kiev. It succumbed after an unequal struggle that lasted four centuries
starting from 1071 AD when the Seljuks at Manzikert defeated the Byzantine army
and the Normans conquered Bari. In 1453 Mehmet the Conqueror simply knocked out
a breathless Byzantium. As for the bronze statues of the hippodrome, carried by
the Venetians in the Piazza of San Marco (Saint Mark), so the wealth, culture,
the Byzantine manuscripts will be transferred to the West and will form the
basis to trigger the western Renaissance, while the Greek people will sink for
a few centuries in the dark. The crucial moment was 1204 AD, when
Constantinople was at least 500000 population and was the "queen of
cities" and certainly not 1453 AD when approximately 50000 people lived in
the glorious ruins. So our rebirth will be "suspended" for 500 years
at least and when in 1700 we catch again the thread, we have already lost five
centuries. So we thought that we had no other choice but to import everything
from Hesperia. </span></div>

immediate consequences of this? </span><o:p></o:p></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Hiding the
importance of the first and decisive Fall of Constantinople obscures the actual
building process of modern Hellenism and its continuity with the Byzantine, as
well, in fact G. Karabelias -1204 AD and the formation of modern Hellenism
GREECEANDWORLD.BLOGSPOT.COM the first "nation-state"-or Modern Greek
states formed during the so-called "Late Byzantine time. " At the
same time, and in that regard, this silencing involves hiding the colonialstyle
relationship established since then among Westerners conquerors and Greeks of
late Byzantium, falsifying, moreover, global history itself, especially in the
crucial chapter on the colonial establishment of the West, which is not
launched with Columbus but with the Crusades - and essentially, the
dismemberment of Byzantium. furthermore is the ultimate humiliation for the
colonized to ignore or hide the texture of relations of subordination agreed
with the dominants, because they (the colonized) will continue forever to be
disoriented without being able to establish an autonomous culture. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

could be offered in the wider European family? <o:p></o:p></span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Today the
dominance of the West is closing in planetary field, with the emergence of new
centers of power - China, India, Islam, Latin America, etc. - and we' re headed
for a fundamental multipolar world. Europe is sinking more and more into a deep
and widespread crisis and to reconstruct itself as a center of culture and
power, the balance between the West and the East in our continent should be
reconstituted as well. A geopolitical balance, with the accession of Russia,
and certainly not the non European Turkey, in a future united Europe, but also
spiritual. The fact that the pope apologized in 2001, from the Greeks for
1204AD in Athens, is a step in the right direction. Because as shown by Europe
after the war, only the recognition of the crimes of Hitler's Germany against
the Jews and other European nations allowed to establish a united Western
Europe and certainly not oblivion. Thus the study of the rupture brought by
1204 in an old European tradition, is still up to the minute. At such a time, the
recognition of the contribution of the Greek (Hellenic) and the Orthodox
component configuration, finally, of a Europe that will not be limited to the
most-helpless now-western version, is a must. The "Greek way" the
balance between spirit and matter, man and nature, man and machine that would
probably give a different kind of Renaissance if Byzantium had survived. Maybe
it can be activated again today, because the Western power-centric model has
exhausted to an ecological and anthropological impasse. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Certainly,
it emphasizes that History never ends. 1204 marks the change in the correlation

Greek hallmark as national resistance identity. </span>Τ<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">he development of the nations is, above all,
the rupture with the nearest "other" and the gradual diversification
away from him. And if this process of rupture accelerates from 11th century
until at least the 18th century, then, the two worlds will begin to close to
each other again, but now with almost absolute terms of inequity. The West is
the world's center, while the Greek (Hellenic) and "Oriental" world,
the heart of European culture once had changed to semi-periphery and
"parasitic outgrowth" of the western paradigm. Today - the West gets
in crisis - it is possible, if the thread went back to where we had left it,
finally overcoming the division between "tradition" that looks
backwards and "modernization" constantly looking outwards, with a
radical new proposal that might finally remove the "sorrow of Greekness",
of which Moskof talked about, a third proposal is to modernize our tradition.

Berlin has been one of the main lenders to Greece during its debt
crisis and while conservative parties said that supporting Greece would
come at the cost of the German taxpayer, new figures show Germany has
made money on the crisis.<br />
According to German newspaper <em>The Local</em>, the German
government released figures on Thursday in response to parliamentary
question from the Green Party which show that Germany has made €2.9
billion in interest payments on Greek bonds since 2010.<br />
Since 2010 Germany has been buying Greek government bonds as part of
an EU deal to prop up the struggling Greek economy. The bonds were
bought by the Bundesbank and then transferred to the federal treasury.<br />
Initial agreements with the government in Athens set out that any
interest earned on the bonds would be paid back to Greece when it
fulfilled its reform obligations.<br />
But the figures published by the government on Thursday show that
Germany made €3.4 billion in interest payments on the bonds and only
paid Greece €527 million in 2013 and €387 million the following year.
That left €2.5 billion in profit, plus interest of €400 million on a
loan from the KfW development bank.<br />
The Green party have responded to the figures by calling for debt relief for Greece.<br />
“Contrary to all the myths spread by people on the right, Germany has
profited massively from the crisis in Greece,” said Green MP
Sven-Christian Kindler.<br />

ATHENS — A Greek Air Force jet crashed into the Aegean Sea on Thursday, killing the pilot, as he returned from a mission to intercept Turkish aircraft that had violated the country’s airspace, Greek officials said.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
The Turkish government did not comment publicly about the accusations of an encounter. The state-run Anadolu news agency quoted unnamed military officials as disputing scattered reports that there had been a dogfight between jets from the two countries and denying that any Turkish Air Force jet had been in the area.</div>

Greek officials said nothing about what might have caused the crash, or whether it was connected to a confrontation with Turkish jets, though they stressed that the crash occurred several kilometers from the site of the interception mission.</div>

"A little goes a long way" is usually the mantra of the travel companies encouraging clients to take advantage of Greece, this economically-beleaguered but scenic and hospitable country. I notice here on Aegina Island that huge tourist coaches are on the increase. They careen these mountain roads on a race to the sites before returning to the ferry for the dash to the next island of their one-day tour.</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; direction: ltr; font-family: Georgia, Century, Times, serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; margin: 0px 0px 15px; orphans: auto; padding: 0px; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-rendering: optimizeLegibility; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">
But this is not what I am talking about. Not about bargain holidays or stretching a travel budget. I am talking about how in Greece right now we can give a little and have it return a great deal more.</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; direction: ltr; font-family: Georgia, Century, Times, serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; margin: 0px 0px 15px; orphans: auto; padding: 0px; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-rendering: optimizeLegibility; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">
Every country is known primarily by its collective cultural persona. The national character is perceived by the behavior of politicians, bureaucrats and the effect of its economic skill and power in the global game. And when a country is disadvantaged by these standards, the world rushes in to take advantage. Or so it seems.</div>
<blockquote style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #f0f0f0; border: 1px solid rgb(204, 204, 204); box-sizing: border-box; color: black; direction: ltr; font-family: Georgia, Century, Times, serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: normal; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; margin: 15px 0px; orphans: auto; padding: 15px; quotes: none; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px;">

I despair when I hear what others say of Greece outside of the country, "the people brought it on themselves," "'they're lazy" "they're looking for a handout." But I know a different reality. In fact I am an active participant in a different reality. And here it is.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">A statement made by a man in Ghana named <a href="https://www.facebook.com/jovaun.hardin" style="color: #29bca3; text-decoration: none;">Nana Kwame</a> has rocked the internet in the last few days. The following information needs to reach people. We need to see Ebola for what it really is. It’s time that the world wakes up to the agenda behind all of this hysteria. Here is what this man has to say about what is happening in his home country:</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">“People in the Western World need to know what’s happening here in West Africa. THEY ARE LYING!!! “Ebola” as a virus does NOT Exist and is NOT “Spread”. The Red Cross has brought a disease to 4 specific countries for 4 specific reasons and it is only contracted by those who receive treatments and injections from the Red Cross. That is why Liberians and Nigerians have begun kicking the Red Cross out of their countries and reporting in the news the truth. Now bear with me:</span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">- See more at: http://www.spiritscienceandmetaphysics.com/ebo-lie-man-living-in-ghana-confirms-ebola-is-a-hoax/#sthash.olHNkG9b.dpuf</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">REASONS:</span></strong></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Most people jump to “depopulation” which is no doubt always on the mind of the West when it comes to Africa. But I assure you Africa can NEVER be depopulated by killing 160 people a day when thousands are born per day. So the real reasons are much more tangible.</span></div>
<h2 style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-weight: normal; line-height: 18px;">
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: small;">Reason 1:</span></strong></h2>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This vaccine implemented sickness being “called” Ebola was introduced into West Africa for the end goal of getting troops on the ground in Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. If you remember America was just trying to get into Nigeria for “Boko Haram”. BULLSHIT. But that fell apart when Nigerians started telling the truth. There ARE NO GIRLS MISSING. Global support fell through the floor, and a new reason was needed to get troops into Nigeria and steal the new oil reserves they have discovered.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h2 style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-weight: normal; line-height: 18px;">
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: small;">Reason 2:</span></strong></h2>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Sierra Leone is the World’s Largest Supplier of Diamonds. For the past 4 months they have been on strike, refusing to provide diamonds due to horrible working conditions and slave pay. The West will not pay a fair wage for the resources because the idea is to keep these people surviving on rice bags and foreign aid so that they remain a source of cheap slave labor forever. A reason was also needed to get troops on the ground in Sierra Leone to force an end to the diamond miners strikes. This is not the first time this has been done. When miners refuse to work troops are sent in and even if they have to kill and replace them all, the only desire is to get diamonds back flowing out of the country.<br />Of course to launch multiple campaigns to invade these countries separately would be way too fishy. But something like “Ebola” allows access to an entire area simultaneously…</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">An Athens court confirmed Greek government’s tax claims from the giant German constructor Hochtief. According to the court, the Greek government has every right to claim approximately €600million from the company that runs Athens airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”. The company has not paid any Value Added Tax since 2001, that is in more than 20 years that has been running the airport.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The German company has appealed several times to Greek justice that it is VAT-free citing “special arrangement.” Hochtief’s appeals have been turned down by the Legal Court of the State.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /><br />-Why deal with the Greeks?<br /><br />Said someone once causing me huge surprise.<br /><br />-Their time has passed, now is the turn of others to lead the world.<br /><br />If anything, the above attitude shows ignorance of both the world and of local history. Skillfully, the education of all countries (with few exceptions) has passed the idea that Greek history is something that concerns the Greeks. But is it so? Clearly not! <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stuart_Mill">John Stuart Mill</a> said that:<br /><br />"<i><b>The Battle of Marathon, even as an event in English history, is more important than the Battle of Hastings. If the issue of that day had been different, the Britons and the Saxons might still have been wandering in the woods</b>."<a href="file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HELLIAS/My%20Documents/Downloads/WHY%20THE%20GREEKS.docx#_ftn1">[1]</a></i><br /><br />Regarding more recent history, the historian <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugen_Weber">Eugen Weber</a> said:<br /><br />"<i><b>After all, the civilization of the West is a by-product of the will of Byzantium to survive</b></i>."<br /><br />These are two of the thousands of quotes concerning <a href="http://greeceandworld.blogspot.gr/2012/09/the-importance-of-greeks-hellenes.html">the contribution of the Greeks</a> and the inextricable link between Greek history with the individual histories of the peoples of the world. I will not analyze it further. The proof of what I say is out there for anyone interested.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/5Etin8lIKU0?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Since the contribution of my ancestors to global history and civilization is a fact, I will grab only one thing, DEMOCRACY! This, alone, is a serious reason for the expulsion of the Greeks from education. Reasonable, since which power would teach their young how to overturn it? Because, dear reader, <b>at this time on planet Earth, there is not one democratic state!</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: #f7f7f7; line-height: 15.3599996566772px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">2500 years ago, a society managed to achieve what all societies seek: the good life! No other has achieved it since<span style="color: #3e454c;">.</span></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> Once, a descendant of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solon">Solon </a>sought to make a new <b>Seisachtheia</b><a href="file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HELLIAS/My%20Documents/Downloads/WHY%20THE%20GREEKS.docx#_ftn2">[2]</a> that would lead back to democracy and good living, again on the same soil. However, he was considered very dangerous and his existence was terminated. The killers found asylum in the embassy of a "superpower" of that era. However, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ioannis_Kapodistrias">Ioannis Kapodistrias</a> managed to organize the closest to a democratic state that exists right now in the world: Switzerland!<br /><br />Democracy, has historically proven to be the means to achieve well-living.The answers, the. ... know-how is there offered to us selflessly by the most sophisticated, democratic society that has ever existed; the Athens of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solon">Solon</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleisthenes">Cleisthenes</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephialtes">Ephialtes</a>[3], <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericles">Pericles </a>but mainly the Athenian Citizens. If education has expelled the Greeks from its school curricula, there is infinite literature out there for the restless spirits. I am sure that whoever grapples with anything Greek would understand much. Like, for example, the shameless campaign against the Greeks especially in recent years when capitalism begins to show its true, anti-democratic face.<br /><br />So my answer to the question why should one deal with the Greeks:</span><br />
<h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">“<b>As mankind tries to achieve the "good life" Greeks are the ones we should deal with</b>.”</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /><a href="file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HELLIAS/My%20Documents/Downloads/WHY%20THE%20GREEKS.docx#_ftnref1">[1]</a>Importance in World History <br /><br />It was John Stuart Mill who said that the Battle of Marathon was a more important event in British history than the Battle of Hastings. If the Greek army had been defeated at Marathon, then who knows how world history might have panned out? We might not have had any of the great Greek innovations passed down to us today. The great Greek playwright Aeschylus was present at the battle, and his death would have changed the development of Greek tragedy as an art form. Though it is easy to ask 'What if?' of every major event in history, the Athenian victory was clearly very important, both for Ancient Greece and the world in the future. http://news.bbc.co.uk/dna/place-lancashire/plain/A10083395 <br /> <br /><a href="file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HELLIAS/My%20Documents/Downloads/WHY%20THE%20GREEKS.docx#_ftnref2">[2]</a>Seisachtheia (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_language">Greek</a>: σεισάχθεια, from σείειν seiein, to shake, and ἄχθος achthos, burden, i.e. the relief of burdens) was a set of laws instituted by the Athenian lawmaker <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solon">Solon</a> (c. 638 BC–558 BC) in order to rectify the widespread <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serfdom">serfdom</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery">slavery</a> that had run rampant in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athens">Athens</a> by the 6th century BC, by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debt_relief">debt relief</a>.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seisachtheia)<br /><br />[3] Ephialtes (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_language">Greek</a>: Ἐφιάλτης, Ephialtēs) was an ancient <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athens">Athenian</a> politician and an early leader of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athenian_democracy">democratic</a> movement there. In the late 460s BC, he oversaw reforms that diminished the power of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Areopagus">Areopagus</a>, a traditional bastion of conservatism, and which are considered by many modern historians to mark the beginning of the "radical democracy" for which Athens would become famous. These powers included the scrutiny and control of office holders, and the judicial functions in state trials. He introduced pay for public officeholders, reduced the property qualifications for holding a public office, and created a new definition of citizenship.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephialtes#cite_note-1">[1]</a> Ephialtes, however, would not live to participate in this new form of government for long. In 461 BC, he was assassinated, probably at the instigation of resentful oligarchs, and the political leadership of Athens passed to his deputy, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericles">Pericles</a>.</span><br />

<div class="fifthPar" style="background-color: white; color: #282828;">
<div style="line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Michel Sapin, France’s finance minister, sent tremors through European capitals with a defiant warning that his country would no longer try to meet its deficit targets and would not inflict further damage on its economy by tightening into the downturn. “I refuse to raise taxes to close any budget gaps,” he said.</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">“What is absolutely necessary is to adjust the pace of deficit reduction to the exceptional situation we are in today. Growth is too weak in Europe and inflation is too low. We must therefore stop reinforcing the causes of this depression,” he told RTL television.</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">“We must face the figures in front of us with realism. The truth is that, contrary to the forecasts of the International Monetary Fund and the [European] Commission, growth has broken down, both in France and in Europe.”</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">He halved his French growth forecast to 0.5pc this year and to little more than 1pc next year, too weak to stop unemployment hitting fresh highs. The IMF has already warned that there will be no job growth until 2016.</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Germany has so far refused to yield any ground on austerity policies but is increasingly vulnerable. Revised data show that the economy has been far weaker than thought over the past two years, falling into a significant double-dip recession last year. Professor Paul De Grauwe, from the London School of Economics, said: “They are victims of their own folly. Germany needs massive investment in its energy sector and it should be doing it now while it can borrow for almost nothing.”</span></div>

<div style="padding: 0px 0px 12px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The effectiveness of austerity programs and the role of the troika in Greece are being questioned by an analysis in the webpage of the German television network RTL.</span></div>
<div style="padding: 0px 0px 12px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As columnist says: "Greece is considered as the European patient; the German popular press likes to outline Greeks as lazy people who are left to be saved by the money of German taxpayers, saying that while Greeks are not paying their taxes, are buying property in Berlin. Of course: The Greek elites contributed with their mindset to create this image. However, a look at the current data of the economy and at the state of 'normal' Greek shows that the imposed austerity by the Troika is a disaster for the citizens."</span></div>
<div style="padding: 0px 0px 12px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The columnist criticizes an earlier statement of the German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble, who had stressed that there is no other excuse for "not to take unpleasant decisions that have to be taken." As the columnist comments: "One thing is clear: In Greece people die because they no longer have money to visit the doctor. And the party of Schäuble calls itself 'Christian'."</span></div>
<div style="padding: 0px 0px 12px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The columnist expresses his amazement about the satisfaction expressed by the Troika on the progress of Greek program during its last visit to Athens and said:</span></div>
<div style="padding: 0px 0px 12px;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"The troika is simply a tool for the complete liberalization of the economy. There is no room for sentiment for the people." The columnist believes that any continuation of harsh austerity measures would be fatal for the country and emphasizes: "As Germany imposed during the crisis between 2008 and 2010 a program to stimulate economic activity, Greece now needs an investment program to maintain and modernize its public infrastructure."</span></div>

<h5>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: small;">Still Here: Leon’s Healing Journey Of Soulful Blogging</span></h5>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Dearest fellow bloggers,</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I disappeared for a while, I know.
Please know that out of sight is not out of mind in my case. Too many
personal and collective struggles keep our lives as hostages here. On
the internal personal level, I have been going through one of my periods
of necessary emotional regulation.…..</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Moving on to the external level, there
is this constant mortal threat for us here in Greece; what we are
experiencing in our country is something you really do not hear much
about, if at all. As we wrote to our dear Cheryl in an e-mail recently,<span id="more-14637"></span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">“Our whole career here in Greece
(nothing ever beyond bare survival) is dead and gone, as is our whole
country, only many do not realize this, thinking they can safely be a
part of an unbelievably corrupt system. The two of us, like many people
here who have been working only in the private sector, have never lived
beyond our means, and still we have constantly-increasing debts due to
the insane overtaxation imposed on us just for breathing here. We
desperately look for various odd jobs trying to survive, but the Greeks
are undesirable as employees in their own country due to insurance cost
reasons, and we are not that young and fit anymore. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We are really amidst
a silent genocide the world knows nothing about. All mainstream media
everywhere cover up the truth of just how ferociously the economy is
used as a weapon against us. The numbers of worthy, honest people taking
their own lives here are unbelievable, but no suicide-rate statistics
are announced during these debt-crisis years, so that no one feels for
the people here and prays for a balance to be restored. [...] </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We sadly
depend on the few scraps Plutonia’s parents are mockingly throwing us;
and they are throwing us less and less. They relish our suffering and
the fact that we will never create a family of our own, because they are
really distorted and evil people; you can be certain we are not saying
this light-heartedly, our sweet Cheryl. We have suffered unspeakably all
our lives in an absolutely unsuited-for-our-natures socio-political
climate, in which neither they or Leon’s parents ever meant to help us
integrate; quite the contrary, we have been kept cut off from society in
many invisibly sickening ways. [...] We started blogging out of
desperation, because we do not seem to have much time left in this life.
We needed to connect with loving, compassionate, creative and spiritual
people like yourself for the first time in our lives, so as not to lose
our minds. We needed to explain our situation, find some understanding,
and, in our turn, do everything in our power to maybe provide some
loving support to some brothers and sisters out there who are suffering.
[...] But due to this unprecedented overtaxation imposed on the
population here which leads to our amassing debts, we are not allowed to
do anything for money anymore. [...] </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pCsr7IZL2oU/U2xxv_IbLzI/AAAAAAAACng/B_VPWk2P_6g/s1600/history-repeats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pCsr7IZL2oU/U2xxv_IbLzI/AAAAAAAACng/B_VPWk2P_6g/s1600/history-repeats.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The tax laws are extremely
complicated and constantly becoming more and more destructive. We are
among the many people here who are threatened with confiscations and
imprisonment without ever having done anything illegal. This is a huge
economic battlefield where more and more decent private-sector citizens
are mercilessly slain. [...] ‘Leon’ and ‘Plutonia’ are our blogging
names. They do carry our personal vibrations and we strongly identify
with them, but, although dozens of ISBNs are circulating with our real
names, although we have translated so many fiction and non-fiction
books, our real names cannot appear in any project anymore. We cannot
even receive any donations via the Internet. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Our empty bank account will
soon be blocked lest something goes in it, to be immediately withdrawn
for our ‘debts’ to be paid to the man-eating status quo. By all
statistical probabilities, the system will get its way with us, too. We
do not say this with fear, we deny to give them this pleasure, but the
fact is that we are being treated as numbers, not as people, and that
the silent genocide continues. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">We do not know if and how we will be able
to deal with homelessness or imprisonment or whatever they are
preparing for large numbers of innocent, downtrodden people here. If
this is our final labor of love, if our activity in the blogosphere gets
terminated and our web space freezes in time, we want to have left
something of our hearts and souls that has made the world a more humane
place. We already consider ourselves fulfilled for having astrally
embraced with you, our sweet Cheryl, and a few more fellow humans.”</span><br />

<em>“Such actions are reminiscent of the crimes of the Nazis,” said Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin. </em><br />
<em>The “international community” has turned a blind eye, the Western
media has described the Neo-Nazi Brown shirts as “freedom fighters”. In
the words of <a href="http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0010WtFAqt9NAGe0GVCarIjrLUFlpyPWkFST0zHDEra-R67uh0vq_NFF7Mh64pGEW_-7T17llJyvSy2xsqwb_8_f9jHjF_rCWuevMo5hJAcz3cYgxnF6kmm5CkDJ99xUv5EeHa3z8wYVSvg1j72ZV__UvHpLGrCGppOwBgnc8SLkqAJEoJcQANTaGQXT7y3wZCiSowuKIFNX0_rceRP28vjNAK4gXLiFe0COyB5pK36zE7CjeWF_-024MSxzDtLMemd4buYrcjK1FgpvZMXqGIvd4vZDZ7olnR1eNwZ4U3Nz5taNNL26q4OPw==&c=kzENsOomSBs1ftzgMT1K9AT5txg4xIIF92FTXb49XDksd6lQoJ3vXQ==&ch=QJ1ydXuhaEmISwq6_03ARGInPmEPzUHK9t0MUF4FEY_FMDxHb3f8iw==" target="_blank">Eric Sommers</a>: </em><br />
<blockquote>
<em>“</em><em>May 2, 2014 - the date that fascist forces
supported by the U.S. government attacked and murdered helpless
civilians in the Ukraine – is a day which will live in infamy”. </em></blockquote>
In recent developments, Obama has granted full support to the
crackdown on so-called “pro-Russian” activists. This movement against
America’s fascist regime in Kiev is widespread. It is not limited to
“ethnic Russians” as conveyed by the media. The leaders of this movement
are Ukrainians.<br />
The Neo-Nazi mobs bear the hallmarks of US sponsored terrorism (e.g
Syria) trained to commit atrocities against civilians. America’s
Neo-Nazi Government in Kiev is a reality. Confirmed by Germany’s<em> Bild:</em>
“Dozens of specialists from the US Central Intelligence Agency and
Federal Bureau of Investigation are advising the Ukrainian government”<br />
<blockquote>
“Citing unnamed German security sources,<em> Bild am Sonntag</em>
said the CIA and FBI agents were helping Kiev end the rebellion in the
east of Ukraine and set up a functioning security structure.”</blockquote>
<strong>Escalation</strong><br />
The killings of civilians in Eastern and South Eastern Ukraine by
Neo-Nazi mobs and members of the civilian militia opens up the
possibility of a broader conflict within Ukraine, which could
potentially lead to escalation. Moreover, prevailing divisions within
Ukraine’s armed forces could lead to military action directed towards
unseating the Kiev Neo-Nazi regime. <em> </em><br />
<em>Known and documented, escalation is part of a longstanding
scenario of military confrontation directed against the Russian
Federation.</em><br />
<img alt="Protesters look at a fire in the trade union building in Odessa May 2, 2014. (Reuters/Yevgeny Volokin)" style="float: none; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px;" title="" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Trade Unions building set ablaze by Right Sector thugs (Reuters)<br />
</span><br />
<strong>“The Anti-Terrorist Operation”</strong><br />
The killings are part of the so-called “anti-terrorist operation”
initiated by the Kiev government with the support of the Pentagon.<br />
The “anti-terrorist operation” is coordinated by the National
Security and National Defense Committee (RNBOU). (Рада національної
безпеки і оборони України), which is controlled by Svoboda and Right
Sector. Dmytro Yarosh, Neo-Nazi leader of the Right Sector delegation in
the parliament, oversees the National Guard, a loyal civilian militia
created in March with the support of Western military advisers.
Paramilitary training of the National Guard commenced in mid-March,
north of Kiev.<br />
While the media has presented the crisis as a confrontation between
“pro-Russian” and “Ukrainian nationalists”, the grassroots movement in
Eastern Ukraine has widespread support. It is largely directed against
the Neo-Nazi Kiev regime supported by the West.<br />
<strong>The National Guard</strong><br />
In the wake of the Coup, divisions have emerged within Ukraine’s
regular military forces and police, which “can not be trusted” in
carrying out an “anti-terrorist operation” on behalf of the Kiev regime
directed against civilians:<br />
<blockquote>
<strong>Concerns over the loyalty of the Ukrainian army
and security agencies have pushed Kiev to start forming an additional
armed branch, which it will fully control. </strong><br />
The National Guard is designed to be 60,000-strong and <strong>completely independent from the country’s military and police. </strong><br />
Recruitment across Ukraine began on March 13, with around 20,000 people already joining the new uniformed service. <a href="http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0010WtFAqt9NAGe0GVCarIjrLUFlpyPWkFST0zHDEra-R67uh0vq_NFF7Mh64pGEW_-SbTi1NAOP1E8QnB4KPqb2eA1Sxfe2Xzi_T1DJ-6-NU-qt0lyCroT5fXRn-Lhn3fJ-knGHbDLydKij8nWFB9ENUwQv7_ftSPoEh3a2PAHRYD9-OPl3OgP_FStOYr_5e_WrjqE2uiX5jAKbil8J6aLZCmP7lM3QQVm&c=kzENsOomSBs1ftzgMT1K9AT5txg4xIIF92FTXb49XDksd6lQoJ3vXQ==&ch=QJ1ydXuhaEmISwq6_03ARGInPmEPzUHK9t0MUF4FEY_FMDxHb3f8iw==" target="_blank">RT</a></blockquote>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
Nigel Farage intensified his attack on the EU’s “vanity” foreign policy on Thursday as he accused Brussels of poking the “Russian bear with a stick” over Ukraine and of deepening the Syrian civil war by giving false hope to forces hoping to topple the Assad regime.</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
Amid widespread criticism of the Ukip leader’s claim in his TV debate with Nick Clegg that the EU had “blood on its hands” after the violence in Kiev, Farage said the EU had destabilised a series of countries.</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
The Ukip leader went on the offensive after political leaders expressed astonishment at his claim in the debate with the deputy prime minister that the EU was to blame for the bloodshed after giving false hope to people in western Ukraine when it</div>
offered a partnership agreement to the ousted president, Viktor Yanukovych.<br />
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
The deputy prime ministerClegg said he was “extraordinarily surprised” that the Ukip leader had allowed his “loathing of the EU” to prompt him to say in their televised LBC debate that the EU had blood on its hands in Ukraine.</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
Lord Ashdown, the former Liberal Democrat leader, accused Farage of having given comfort to Putin. The Tories said the remarks by Farage in the final minutes of his hour-long LBC debate with Clegg, after the deputy prime minister had bombarded him with statistics about the EU, raised questions about his stamina.</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
Speaking on his weekly LBC phone-in on the morning after their debate, Clegg made clear thathe would highlight the remarks by Farage when they hold a second televised debate on BBC2 next week.</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
He said: “It shows quite how extreme people can be – like Nigel Farage – when their loathing of the EU becomes so all-consuming that they even end up siding with Vladimir Putin in order to make their point.</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
To suggest that somehow it is the EU’s fault that the Ukrainian people rose up, as many did on the streets of Kiev, against their government seeking to claim greater democracy, greater freedom, is such a perverse way of looking at things.”</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.2em;">
But Farage issued a statement on Thursday night attacking the “vanity” of EU foreign policy and extending his criticism beyond the EU’s handling of Ukraine. He said: “We are seeing vanity take the place of reason in foreign policy and the result is to destabilise a whole series of countries to no positive effect that I can discern.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Paul Craig Roberts</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Washington’s plan to seize Ukraine and to evict Russia from its Black Sea naval base has come amiss. But to turn around Lenin’s quote, “two steps forward, one step back.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Do you remember all the tough talk coming from John Kerry, the White House Fool, Hilary Clinton, and the lickspittle Merkel about the harsh sanctions that would “badly damage” the Russian economy unless Russia prevented the referendum vote in Crimea? Well, it was all bullshit, more hot air from the White House sock puppet and the lickspittle German chancellor who is a disgrace to the German nation. As the Russians kept telling John Kerry, sanctions on Russia would destroy Europe and do little damage to Russia.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
I wish the Russians had kept this to themselves. I was looking forward to the Washington morons destroying NATO by closing down the European economy.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Of course, after pretending that they were macho tough guys, something that Washington’s presstitute media could hype as sanctions had to be imposed, so Washington came up with sanctions, not on Russia, but on eleven individuals: the deposed Ukrainian president, an advisor to the deposed president, 2 Crimean officials, and 7 Russians.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The choice of the officials is an utter mystery. The seven Russians are a Putin aid, a Putin adviser, four members of the Russian parliament (Duma) and a deputy prime minister. What any of these people had to do with the referendum in Crimea, no one knows.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Moreover, the sanctions only apply to foreign bank accounts that these 11 individuals might have outside Russia. Most likely, that means only the deposed Ukrainian president, if we are to believe all the propaganda about him. Other reports say that the sanctions are only for the next six months.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If the Washington and EU criminals steal any money from these persons, the Russian central bank can replenish their stolen accounts.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The people who decided that Crimea would disassociate from Ukraine and return to Russia were the people themselves. Under the wording of Obama’s stupid sanctions, his sanctions should apply to the Crimean people who voted to disassociate from the US stooge government in Kiev.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Additionally, Obama’s sanctions apply to himself and to his regime and to its NATO puppets as it was the West that overthrew the elected government of Ukraine, not Russia or Crimea. The Americans, of course, never apply law to themselves.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
In other words, the sanctions are totally meaningless. Yet, the White House Fool declared: “If Russia continues to interfere in Ukraine, we stand ready to impose further sanctions.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Obama’s hypocrisy makes a person want to puke. It is the White House Fool who is interfering in Ukraine. It was Washington that financed and organized the overthrow of the elected Ukraine government, using well organized and well armed neo-nazis to intimidate the unarmed police and ruling party, thus clearing the way for Washington to set up an unelected government of its well-paid stooges.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
What the incompetent White House Fool overlooked is that southern and eastern Ukraine are Russian, not Ukrainian, so the fool’s coup has caused Crimea to depart and is causing widespread protests in eastern Ukraine against Washington’s stooge unelected government in Kiev. Washington’s stooge Kiev government has appointed unelected Ukrainian multibillionaire oligarchs, who have their own private security forces, as mayors of the Russian cities to put down the protests. If the oligarchs use violence against the Russian people, the likely result will be that the Russian Army will take control of eastern Ukraine, which in every essential way is Russian.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If eastern Ukraine returns to Russia, Washington will be left with the ultra-nationalists of western Ukraine, people who fought for Hitler during World War 2. The EU doesn’t want ultra-nationalists as the EU is busy stamping out nationalism and the sovereignty of European countries. Nevertheless, Washington will have gained a strategic advantage over Moscow, as Washington can place anti-ballistic missile and other military bases on western Ukraine’s border with Russia, thus completing Washington’s encirclement of Russia with hostile military and missile bases.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Russia will neutralize the US bases by targeting them with Iskander missiles, which cannot be intercepted by ABMs.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
All that the White House Fool will have achieved is to further make clear to Russia, and to China, that Washington has both on its target list, because both are in the way of Washington’s world hegemony.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #21200b; font-family: 'Droid Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 20px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: right; vertical-align: baseline;">

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In mid-January the Ukraine parliament adopted legislation with a view to curbing the neo-Nazi groups in the protest movement. <span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The Greek Foreign Minister mr Venizelos (</span><a href="http://greeceandworld.blogspot.gr/2011/09/mr-venizelos-nee-turkoglu-son-of-turk.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">nee Turkoglou according to the US Embassy</a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">) characterizes as inadequate the <a href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/211513895/THE-TOP-SECRET-REPORT-OF-THE-LEGAL-COUNCIL-OF-THE-STATE-CONCERNING-THE-GERMAN-OCCUPATION-LOAN">report</a> of the task of the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Legal Council of the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">State.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> This report is about the German debts to Greece (Hellas) and specifically the forced Occupation Loan and the World War I & II Reparations. Questions are raised by the strange delays in moving the case forward.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">As it is known, the issue was reopened by Mr. D. Avramopoulos, who as foreign minister, moved methodically to claim the debt under the rules of international law.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The assumption, however, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Mr Venizelos </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">(</span><a href="http://greeceandworld.blogspot.gr/2011/09/mr-venizelos-nee-turkoglu-son-of-turk.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">nee Turkoglou according to the US Embassy</a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">) </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">suddenly paused all progress. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z-v-1B--6-4/Uw7uxmEUCsI/AAAAAAAAClY/yPjHpRdp-Iw/s1600/VENIZELOS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z-v-1B--6-4/Uw7uxmEUCsI/AAAAAAAAClY/yPjHpRdp-Iw/s1600/VENIZELOS.jpg" height="205" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">While within short time</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">there was </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">very important progress by the actions and initiatives of Mr. Avramopoulos, Mr. Venizelos not only does not show a similar mobility, but instead follows a delaying tactic in the subject.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">A year ago, </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">the Legal Council of </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">State </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">had been entrusted to the drafting finding on the issue of German reparations. It </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">is unknown when the <a href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/211513895/THE-TOP-SECRET-REPORT-OF-THE-LEGAL-COUNCIL-OF-THE-STATE-CONCERNING-THE-GERMAN-OCCUPATION-LOAN">final report</a> was delivered, but was regarded as a closely guarded secret.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">There is information that the report was delivered months ago to Mr Venizelos, who however, has not -since now- shown any intention in proceeding to the next stage of the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">German reparations </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">claim.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">However, pressure was enforced by members of all parties, without exception the New Democracy parliamentarians, about the fate, the content and the findings of the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Legal Council of </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">State.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The President of PASOK, to avoid giving clear answers, claimed that the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">content of the <a href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/211513895/THE-TOP-SECRET-REPORT-OF-THE-LEGAL-COUNCIL-OF-THE-STATE-CONCERNING-THE-GERMAN-OCCUPATION-LOAN">report</a> is </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">secret.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">But when rumors started spreading about the impending question tabling in parliament from all the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA, led by Mr.Tsipras </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">himself</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">, Mr. Venizelos was alarmed and decided to change tactic. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Of course, this is not by choosing to take the next step of claiming parliamentary allowances, but to delay the process further. How?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">By claiming the findings prepared by the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Legal Council of the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">State</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> as </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">inadequate</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">, which Mr Venizelos remitted to the plenary of the SLC. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Speaking last night in the House Mr. Venizelos spoke of </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">deficiencies of the </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">findings, noting characteristically that "the findings are not what I would recommend the Hellenic Republic </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">to follow</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">."</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In fact, Mr. Venizelos does not want to annoy Berlin with such an issue, and especially in the pre-election period. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">His ambition is to take </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">back</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">the issue as far as possible.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Besides this, the issue of German reparations is a ' red flag ' for the Germans and especially to Mr. Schäuble. For the record, the only one who replied to the German Finance Minister was Mr. Avramopoulos, who paid for this reply with his dismissal from the Foreign Ministry.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">George Clooney and Bill Murray, stars of The Monuments Men, have waded into the long-running row over the Elgin Marbles by saying Britain should hand the treasures back to Greece.</span></div>

<div style="line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The classical sculptures were taken from the Parthenon in Athens by Lord Elgin in the early 19th century. They were acquired by parliament in 1816 and currently reside in the British Museum.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 1.48em;">David Cameron has opposed calls for their return, but some of Hollywood’s big names have urged him to reconsider.</span></div>

<div class="fifthPar" style="background-color: white;">
<div style="color: #282828; line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Clooney and Murray offered their opinions at a London press conference for their new film, The Monuments Men, in which they play members of an Allied team tasked with retrieving artworks looted by the Nazis.</span></div>
<div style="color: #282828; line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Asked about the Elgin Marbles, Murray said: "They’ve had a very nice stay here, certainly. London’s gotten crowded. There's plenty of room back there in Greece.</span></div>
<div style="color: #282828; line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"England can take the lead on this kind of thing - letting art go back where it came from."</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">He added in deadpan style: "The Greeks are nothing but generous. They would loan it back once in a while."</span></div>
<div style="color: #282828; line-height: 1.48em; padding: 0px 0px 0.7em;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The subject first came up for Clooney at a Berlin Film Festival press conference over the weekend, when a Greek reporter pressed him on the subject. His comments were seized upon by those who believe the treasures were stolen and should be returned to their original home.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">American actor George Clooney has defended his comments from just over a week ago advocating the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece despite criticism from London Mayor Boris Johnson.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Johnson accused the actor of pursuing a “Hitlerian agenda” for what he termed “London’s cultural treasures” as the Nazis had also intended to remove the marbles from the British Museum if they occupied Britain.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"I’m a great fan of the Mayor, and I’m sure my right honorable friend had no real intention of comparing me to Hitler,» Clooney said in a statement.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"I’d chalk it up to a little too much hyperbole washed down with a few whiskeys. I've found myself in the same spot a time or two so I hold no ill will,” the actor, who has been promoting his new file “The Monuments’ Men,” said of Johnson’s op-ed in the Daily Telegraph.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"When it comes to real facts, not imagined history, you need only to look at the UNESCO rulings that have been agreed to by all parties.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"An occupying nation can't sell off the national heritage of the country it occupies,” added Clooney.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"More relevant is the fact that the Parthenon Marbles were chipped away from the Parthenon by the occupying Turks and sold. It was a single monument broken into bits. It would be as if the statue of David's head were sold to England. His arm to the Vatican. And his torso to the Met.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"There are many pieces in nearly every country that this conversation should take place. The best place to start would be at the most obvious object. When polled the British people are overwhelmingly in favor of their return.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">"The rest of the world follows suit. If you want to deal in facts. Those are the facts. But maybe it's just easier to compare me to Hitler."</span></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IcvbYi2A87o/UviOtwciFwI/AAAAAAAACj8/_i9C7xhqFiE/s1600/malakasa-630x400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IcvbYi2A87o/UviOtwciFwI/AAAAAAAACj8/_i9C7xhqFiE/s1600/malakasa-630x400.jpg" height="253" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The unprecedented and unreasonable increases in tolls brought violent reaction.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Residents of the surrounding areas went to the Malakasa tolls and after they pulled the employees from the cabins, set them on fire to protest for the increase in the price of transit.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The incident took place yesterday just before 8 pm and according to reports people who had responded to the call of the Municipality of Oropos to protest against the increase in tolls arrived and set the fire .</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">All this happened in the wake of unreasonable increases in the price of the toll that reached 100% in many cases, thus increasing the cost of moving of the already impoverished Greeks.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The increase is not due to improved benefits and services or to launch new road projects . It is known that these measures are designed to serve specific interests of contractors and big tv stations owners as we are in the middle of an election period.</span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">He's sexy, he can act, dance and sing - and he can thank his Greek background for these numerous talents. Oscar nominated Australian actor Hugh Jackman has told Star TV journalist Elgka Ntaifa he's Greek.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">"It is true that I have Greek roots," said the actor, on a media junket promoting the upcoming instalment of the Wolverine movie franchise.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">"Two generations ago the name of my family was Bellas, and I feel that I am a Greek by blood."</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">It was less than five years ago when Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness and their two children were in Mykonos, invited to a private party by American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">The Jackman clan then went for a mini excursion to Delos by boat and a trip to Matogianni for dinner.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">In the interview with Star TV, Jackman said he was ready and willing to take up any acting opportunities there may be in Greek film.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">"If there is a Greek filmmaker interested in a brunette Aussie, then let me know," said the Hollywood actor, who owes a part of his career in compatriot Russell Crowe.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">It was Crowe's suggested for Jackman to play the Marvel Comic immortal hero Wolverine after he rejected the role himself.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Vera Serif', serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">"They suggest the role of Wolverine to him but rejected him and suggested me.
