Paying the price of the most idiotic economic experiment in modern history

My girlfriend and I turned up for a romantic break in Athens last Wednesday evening, only to discover that Dimitris Christoulas had shot himself in front of parliament hours before. The 77-year-old pharmacist couldn't cope with the austerity imposed upon him by Greece's technocratic government. His suicide note confessed he couldn't bear to look his children in the eye any more. Massive demonstrations in the central Syntagma Square over the next four nights were his fellow citizens' response.

A terrible suffering has been unleashed upon the Greek people as a result of the Euro crisis, and the fiscal incompetence and corruption of the previous Greek government. The leaders of the richer, more powerful European nations, especially France and Germany, have imposed a bureaucrat called Lucas Papademos on the broken country, and demanded cuts to public spending, whose human toll Christoulas has now come to symbolise. Pay and pensions have been debauched; taxes have risen very sharply.

Greece is entering its fifth consecutive year of recession. As the journalist Peter Oborne has noted, during the Great Depression of the 1930s, Britain's national output dropped around 10 per cent in total.

Since 2008, Greece's output has dropped 13 per cent. Some forecasters think it could drop 10 per cent further this year alone. Perhaps 100,000 businesses have ceased to exist. Parties of the far right and far left are now polling a terrifying 50 per cent or more between them.

The suffering is visible everywhere. You can't eat lunch in a cafe without beggars swarming around you; the homeless crouch on almost every street corner; drug dealing takes place in broad daylight; and students and anarchists have declared their violent, vengeful intentions in graffiti across the city. That all this should happen in the shadow of the Acropolis, that eroded temple of an eroding civilisation, is ironic.

What do we owe the Greek people? Sympathy, solidarity, and support – and an apology too, if you campaigned in favour of the euro. Right on our doorstep in Europe, the country that gave birth to the continent is paying the price of the most idiotic economic experiment in modern history.

It is true that the restoration of the drachma could cause an economic catastrophe, as other countries also leave the single currency – and that prospect is what stops Eurosceptics from gloating, for now.

But a reckoning is coming, in the form of Greek elections next month. Whatever their result, the Greek people want their economic sovereignty returned from Berlin and Paris to their own capital. I would avoid booking romantic holidays to Athens for the time being.

The MP accused the German government of Angela Merkel, saying that she is to blame for the fact that one in three Greeks live below the poverty line, while adding that the money will not go to the country but to the lenders.

"I respect people who come down and protest, and it is not by chance that I MikisTheodorakis at the age of 86 years went down the street to defend the rights of the Greek people." Said MP and noted that she is by the side of the Greeks who are trying to defend their homeland . "I Clarify my position because I do not want to go in the same bag with the Bild that the only thing they do is to intimidate Greece," he added.

Finally, the MP concluded his speech referring to the solidarity movements that have been created and said in fluent Greek: We are all Greeks!

Greek Leaders Guilty of High Treason

TO THE PROSECUTOR OF THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT (ICC) 

INFORMATION AND EVIDENCE PERTINENT TO SERIOUS BREACH OF THE ROME STATUTE OF THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT (ICC) BY POLITICAL AND STATE LEADERSHIP  OF GREECE 

Dear Sir/ Madam 

  I inform you, that this time, as we speak, serious crimes are committed in Greece and only you can stop them,  as they concern crimes against humanity and attempted genocide of an entire race, and there is no judicial authority  in Greece able to  investigate them .  I am speaking about Genocide by killing members of the  population, by  causing serious bodily or/and mental harm,  by deliberately inflicting on the  conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole (or in part), by imposing measures intended to prevent births and by  forcibly transferring children. And I am speaking about crimes against humanity because during the last 2 years  :
- there were a lot of  inhumane acts against the population, causing great suffering, serious injury  to body and to mental and physical health
- there were intentional inflictions of conditions of life,  inter alia the deprivation of access to food and medicine, calculated to bring about the destruction of part of a population, 
- there were intentional inflictions of severe pain or suffering, whether physical and mental,  
- there were   intentional   severe deprivations of fundamental rights contrary to international law by reason of the identity of the collectivity
-  we have lost the right of full ownership over our bodies and we can easy  become victims of  human organ trafficking (Enslavement)  
- there were coercive acts to transfer of persons from the area in which they was lawfully present, without grounds permitted under international law .

And all these  acts were committed by the political and state leadership of Greece as a part of a widespread and  systematic attack directed against the  population, with knowledge of the attack. 

So I recorded the most important , in my opinion, criminal acts and their consequences which  I believe that demonstrate completely the validity of the above allegations . Since my English is not very good  and the situation we face is very serious and requires urgent action, in order to save time, I send you via  e-mail now the notification - most of it written in Greek and a small part in English, with  sufficient evidence, much of which is in English, so that, even with an automatic translation of text combined with English texts, that you can  be able to understand enough so that you can start  your investigation. As soon as possible, I will do my best  to send you the whole text  and the related evidence shown in English. In a couple of days, I will also send you some more evidence, via e-mail  and  via post mail I have already sent you 14 DVDs  . Thank you.

Peter Economides - Rebranding Greece

The life of Peter Economides could well be a novel that unfolds from South Africa, Hong Kong, Mexico to New York and Athens, sprinkled with lots of glitteradvertising, executive positions in some of the largest companies in the world and of course a relationship that never forgot.

Peter first met Steve Jobs, in August 1997 at the offices of Apple in California. The company -at the time- did not go well and the genius Jobs had returned to save it Peter Economides remembers that he went to rendezvous with dress code which referred to the preferences of the founder of Apple.
