Chaos prevails outside the Athens airport Eleftherios Venizelos and the port of Piraeus, with travellers dragging their luggage in the heat amid an unprecedented traffic jam as thousands taxi drivers are blocking the streets as of the early hours of Monday. Some 2,000 taxi drivers have blocked the main road (Attiki Odos) to the airport and  other 2,000 have parked their cars in the middle of the street around the port of Piraeus.
Greek media report of tourists at the verge of a nervous breakdown dragging their luggage even 1,5 km in order to reach the train station of Piraeus. Other travellers complained that they have missed their flights due to the mobilization of the Athens taxis.
Taxi drivers have blocked main points of the Pireaus harbor area and even removed the plates from their cabs. They have even blocked the streets to cruise liners dock at Xavierou Coast with the effect the tourist buses could not approach and take tourists to sight seeing tours. However for a short time the blockade was opened and 40 tourist buses could approach the eight cruise liners.
Traffic has come to a total collapse at the harbor.
